Surya Hot Shine - Doors lock 5 mins before class time

This class is taught by:

Sara Parrott

As a college athlete, Sara Parrott had a very structured workout schedule. Shortly after graduation, she found herself with freedom to find her own way. She began practicing yoga for the physical benefits, but quickly discovered how balanced the practice made her feel. As her practice grew, she became passionate about helping others to find both physical and spiritual satisfaction in practice. Sara received her RYT 200-hour certification from Yoga in the World under RYT-500 teacher Anayra Calderon.

Sara is a thoughtful, energetic, focused instructor who brings positive energy to each class. You can expect a physically challenging but playful, alignment-focused practice that will leave you feeling energized. She is a dedicated practitioner and is honored to maintain a practice that allows her to grow and evolve, while guiding her students to do the same.

Carissa Herencia

Carissa is a 300-hour certified yoga instructor. She completed her initial 200-hour teacher training with Yoga in the World (at Surya Yoga Academy) in January 2016, under the guidance of Anayra Calderon and Victoria Arvizu. In June 2017, she completed an additional 100 hours of training with Anayra Calderon, focusing on the Yin practice. Carissa enjoys sharing her passion for yoga with others. She hopes to bring her students the strength and stability that helped shape her own practice, with the added goal that lessons on the mat will transcend off the mat. Carissa teaches a well-sequenced flow to upbeat music, focusing on alignment as well as coordination of the body, breath, and mind. You can expect to work up a sweat, play with an arm balance or an inversion, and still find some time for meditation in her class.

Maureen Taylor

From the first moment Maureen stepped onto her mat, which she affectionately calls her magic carpet, her life was transformed. Maureen received her RYT-200 hour certification from Yoga in the World in partnership with Surya Yoga Academy. She is also trained in Yin.

Hatha-trained with alignment-based focus, Maureen is a dedicated and
passionate individual who will bring the same passion to each and every one of
her classes. Maureen will incorporate the physical and spiritual aspects of this beautiful calming practice. She encourages her students to blossom by integrating the graceful flow of Vinyasa yoga with mindfulness to the connection between the body, mind and breath. Her classes will leave you feeling grounded and balanced while having a great workout.

Maureen creates an authentic space with stimulating asana for all levels of practitioners.

Megan Venzin

After moving to NYC to study improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade in 2009, Megan quickly realized that her fast-paced lifestyle needed more balance. The few free moments she found between work and late night sets were devoted to an ever growing vinyasa practice.

Megan's reliance on yoga for steadiness of mind eventually brought her to PURE Yoga's teacher training certification program, where she studied under the instruction of Kay Kay Clivio and Yogi Charu. Today, Megan's focus has shifted to writing and fitness. When she's not instructing high-energy classes, you can find Megan covering festivals and other events for the Brooklyn-based blog, FREEwilliamsburg and Metrosource Magazine. She will incorporate your special requests into playlists, just ask.
