Surya Hot Shine - Doors lock 5 mins before class time

This class is taught by:

Leah Boston

Leah Boston is RYT-200, a fitness enthusiast and clean eats blogger. After being plagued with multiple health conditions, Leah took it upon herself to embark on a path of holistic healing.

After a period of personal study, Leah found that her beliefs aligned well with a yogic lifestyle, which brought her focus back to her asana practice and her teachers at Surya Yoga Academy. As Leah progressed, she yearned to deepen her personal practice and share her story of healing with others who may also struggle with health conditions.

Encouraged by her teacher, Steven Cheng, Leah began to research teacher training programs. She chose to study under Anayra Calderon and Victoria Arvizu to at Surya Yoga Academy to receive her RYT-200 hour certification.

Leah’s classes are Hatha inspired Vinyasa flows set to modern music for a fun and uplifting mood that not only challenges the body but encourages physical, mental and spiritual healing.

Carissa Herencia

Carissa took her first yoga class in 2002. Over the years, she’s explored various methods and used yoga as a supplement to running. During the winter of 2014, Carissa began a regular hot yoga practice for weight loss. Not only did she enjoy the benefits of a healthier physique, but also noticed how a regular practice helped her find balance in other aspects of her life. In January 2016, Carissa completed her 200-hour teacher training at Surya Yoga Academy under the guidance of Anayra Calderon and Victoria Arvizu. In June 2017, she completed an additional 100 hours of teacher training with Anayra Calderon, focusing on the Yin practice. Carissa enjoys sharing her passion for yoga with others. She hopes to bring her students the strength, stability, and mindfulness that helped shape her own practice. Carissa teaches a well-sequenced flow to upbeat music, focusing on alignment as well as coordination of the body, mind, and breath. You can expect to work up a sweat, play with an arm balance or an inversion, and still find some time for meditation in her class.

Christina Noce

When Christina first stepped onto a yoga mat in 2007, it seemed a natural transition from the dance she studied and adored for the first 18 years of her life. The yoga studio quickly became her sanctuary, a place where she could shine and connect to her most authentic self. As her devotion to yoga grew deeper, Christina pursued her 200-hour certification through Surya Yoga Academy in Hoboken, NJ, under the instruction of Anayra Calderon and Victoria Arvizu.

Christina is a dynamic, thoughtful and disciplined instructor focused on conveying knowledge to her students in every class she leads. She teaches a Vinyasa flow class that combines discipline and compassion to encourage her students to work to their full potential. Her class is fast-paced, fun, and energetic.

Christina has spent the last 3 years working in private wealth services. Her background is portrayed in her style of teaching through her methodical approach, as well as her emphasis on finding balance, growth and relaxation through yoga.

Yoga became an important part of her life in the year 2009 after a long battle with depression. Upon discovering yoga and its healing benefits, Melissa dove deep into the practice and finally decided to bring her new found love to others by going through a 200hr Vinyasa Teacher Training in 2015. Melissa hopes to share her love for yoga and music in her classes and inspire others.

Kaity Schanks

Kaity began a serious love affair with yoga when she discovered Surya Yoga Academy hoping to calm her hectic life, and live a healthier lifestyle. After one class, she quickly realized how deeply she loved the heated practice and was inspired by the community that surrounds it. In her class, you can expect to find strong and powerful vinyasa flows guided by encouraging instruction that promote body awareness and proper alignment for all types of students. She will safely guide you to challenge your physical yoga practice, no matter your level, in hopes that you explore your flexibility – but have fun in the process of breaking out of your comfort zone. She is grateful to be able to share the benefits that yoga brings and contribute to her yoga community.
