Surya Hot Flow

This class is taught by:

Carlie Davis

With 10 years of personal practice and a 200HR certification, Carlie offers dynamic, heart-led classes that blend strength, flow, and soul. Her teaching invites students to tune in, move with purpose, and reconnect to their inner rhythm. Rooted in nature, and holistic living, Carlie brings warmth, curiosity, and a touch of magic to the mat.

Gagan Bhutani

Gagan (pronounced Guh-gun)'s classes focus on an Asana practice which is accessible to beginners and provide ample challenge to intermediate practitioners.

He takes a "talk less do more" approach using verbal cues and subtle hands-on corrections to help his students build and safe and strong personal practice, which includes varying combinations of traditional postures and vinyasa sequences.

Gabrielle S Siani

Gabrielle is a Jersey native originally from Cranford. It was at her home studio, Alluem Yoga, where she discovered her love for yoga. In 2015 Gabrielle moved to Boston to go to school at Emerson College, where she studied theater and education. While in school, Gabrielle found Yogaworks Back Bay, a studio that was walkable and welcoming. After taking classes Gabrielle decided to take a leap and apply to work at the front desk. Eventually, she decided to sign up for the 200hr teacher training program, studying with teachers Caitlyn Visconte and Renee LeBlanc, graduating in December 2016. Between now and then Gabrielle, has been committing her time to teaching theater, while continuing her yoga practice daily and very excited to be teaching now with Surya Yoga Academy. Gabrielle's yoga style is very Vinyasa flow with a fiery twist.

Samantha Walker

Samantha first discovered yoga in 2011 and it has been a guiding light for finding inner peace, embodiment, and meaning ever since. Her goal is to provide others with the opportunity to find the same magic within themselves. Samantha completed her 200-hour vinyasa yoga teacher training in September 2020 with Jhon Tamayo at Atmananda Yoga in New York City. She passionately continues to explore yogic traditions, philosophies, and what it means to find balance. Fascinated by the human body-mind connection, Samantha decided to quit her job in Public Relations in 2021 to embark on a career journey that aligned. She is currently working toward a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at Seton Hall University.

Maureen Taylor

From the first moment Maureen stepped onto her mat, which she affectionately calls her magic carpet, her life was transformed. Maureen received her RYT-200 hour certification from Yoga in the World in partnership with Surya Yoga Academy. She is also trained in Yin.

Hatha-trained with alignment-based focus, Maureen is a dedicated and
passionate individual who will bring the same passion to each and every one of
her classes. Maureen will incorporate the physical and spiritual aspects of this beautiful calming practice. She encourages her students to blossom by integrating the graceful flow of Vinyasa yoga with mindfulness to the connection between the body, mind and breath. Her classes will leave you feeling grounded and balanced while having a great workout.

Maureen creates an authentic space with stimulating asana for all levels of practitioners.

Jeffrey Scios

Jeffrey is an 800-hour certified yoga teacher. In May 2005 Jeffrey completed the 300-hour Jivamukti Teacher Training at Omega Institute NY. In November 2007, Jeffrey completed the 800-hr mentor/ apprenticeship program at the Jivamukti Yoga Center NYC with mentor Yogaswari and additional guidance and teachings from Sharon Gannon, David Life, Uma Saraswati, and Ruth Lauer Manenti. Jeffrey's teaching is an amalgamation of all the great teachers and experiences that have influenced his life. Jeffrey strives to teach the kind of class he would like to take. One that is challenging yet creative, firm yet gentle; with humor, great music and an inspired spiritual teaching. For Jeffrey it is an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to teach and to be able to enrich the lives of the many inspiring students who attend class every day. Jeff stays true to the Jivamukti style of yoga so expect hands on assists and adjustments throughout the class.

Steven Cheng

Steven Cheng completed his certification in Dharma Mittra Yoga in July 2005. His class style is free-form vinyasa with pieces of Dharma Mittra's signatures. Lessons are dynamic and energetic with lots of heat and strength building.

Yoga, in the classical sense, aims to encourage the yogi's body to open with time and practice. Although alignment is the foundation to any yoga practice, "perfection" is not the absolute goal of Steven's teaching. A healthy form and a light spirit is what he exudes and what he promotes. Therefore, he works toward proper form, while having lots of fun and achieving a greater sense of well-being along the way. You will occasionally hear him say that his role is to act as a guide, offering possibilities, but the journey is that of the practicing yogi's. The final destination is a personal one.

Jena Maenius

Jena has been teaching yoga in the NJ/NYC area since 2012. She originally trained at Yoga Vida NYC, which was a yoga school built off the teachings and premises of Jivamukti. Her additional training includes a therapeutics and separate meditation training at Pure Yoga, as well as an advanced sequencing, vinyasa flow certification at Kula Yoga Project, founded by Schuyler Grant of Wanderlust Yoga Festivals.

In class, you’ll experience a strong sense of storytelling — weaving themes together, connecting pieces throughout the course of the flow into bigger shapes and expressions. Jena’s classes are joyful, accessible, and balanced. You’ll leave feeling strong, centered and satisfied.

Stephanie T Tay

Safyra Bakshani

Maya Safyra has been teaching yoga and other healing modalities for 10 years. She is a second generation clairvoyant intuitive who has been working in spiritual realms her entire life. The practice of yoga is a foundational practice to centering the body-mind-spirit that she uses to help ground herself in working with her intuitive gifts. In working with the different practices, each one serves a purpose. She teaches vinyasa flow and power, as well as yin practices and meditation.

Featured in Voyage LA & Voyage Miami Magazines, Who's Who in America and a speaker for LEO International Conferences, Safyra has taught all over the world and finds incredible joy in sharing this practice.

James De Los Reyes

James is a 300-Hour Power Vinyasa instructor, who found yoga through ballroom dancing since 2014 and has had the privilege to train in various studios throughout New York, Brooklyn, and Kripalu Center, Massachusetts. James balances strength, functional mobility, and active rest in all his sequences. Ending Svasana with his signature singing bowl. He agrees that life is suffering, but the suffering part is also optional. "The change starts with the individual."

Nina Christensen

Nina originally turned to yoga to alleviate back pain and through a regular practice she’s found healing physically and mentally. She obtained her 200 hr RYT and 35 hr Yin training through Powerflow Yoga. Through the asana practice and connection to breath, her classes aim to challenge you to be present, to peel back layers of conditioning, to learn, grow, and ultimately be better humans. Nina hopes you will also take away a sense of belonging, connection, and community through her classes.

Mingo Perez

Mingo has been practicing asana yoga since he was fifteen and soon after would discover the vast world of yoga that goes beyond the physical form. He has spent hundreds of hours exploring his own practice on the mat which has translated to clear, conscious direction while teaching. He deepened his practice by traveling to Mysore, India for a summer to study ashtanga and meditation with Pattabhi Joi's daughter, Saraswathi and the robust community that surrounds their Ashram. Having felt first-hand the transformative powers that yoga, meditation, and conscious breathing can bring to life, he has spent the last 10 years teaching his students what he has learned. Always with patience, always with compassion, you will find his class rejuvenating and challenging. Mingo is certified as a E-RYT 500 and YACEP with Yoga Alliance.
Treat yourself to a medley of movement and breath in our open Level Vinyasa class. Be ready to receive a satisfying workout and a calming experience. There will be some Intermediate level postures but beginners can do modifications. Prior Yoga experience recommended. Open to all levels.
